When I first started my journeys to central Florida, I would hear from time to time about attractions that were no longer with us. I didn't give it much thought, because I thought, "The attractions here now are so great, why would anyone try to stop progress?"
Well..... now that I'm an "old hand", I am one of those people who have a tendency to complain once the rumours about closing an attraction starts. I feel that it takes away a small piece of my soul when I know I will never be able to ride a certain attraction ever again.
But, imagine if theme parks never changed in how they'd look and what they offer? It would become a very boring, outdated place, that would probably not survive the long haul.
I can't lie, even though I will stomp my feet, hold my breath, and go through an old fashioned tantrum when an attraction closes, I am also quite excited with all of the new attractions that are created every year. This is what brings people back, year after year. Walt Disney realized this and famously said that his parks would change time and time again.
Technology is growing exponentially, and the thrills a new attraction can offer today were not even conceivable as early as a decade ago.
So, please keep creating amazing new attractions that push the boundaries of thrills and adventure as we know it..... just as long as you don't replace my favourites 😆
